Acum intelegi ceva?<BR/><BR/>"Potential space is a metaphor for the state of mind in which the baby 'begins to be' (Winnicott 1967: 98) It is only in this state of mind that the infant, child, or adult is alive as a human being (Winnicott 1971a). Forms of potential space include the area of transitional phenomena, the area of creativity, the dream space, teh analytic space, and the area of cultural experience. (...) Potential space is the space between the baby and the object...this space must remain potential because the actual space would involve a dissolution of interpersonal and intrapersonal connectedness, leaving the individual alone without access either to the other or to himself. Potential space is the space in which we live; it is an intermediate area that lies between reality and fantasy (Winnicott 1968, 1971a, cited at p 257). Both our inner world (fantasy world) and the outer world (external reality) are perceptual fields that the individual responds to and makes use of, but neither is a personal creation... Winnicott considers fantasy to be out of the realm of creativity: he contrasts fantasy and imagination. First is a static dissociated process that remains isolated from leaving and dreaming, second is the result of a transformation that fantasy undergoes when it is brought into potential space of one's fantasies. This is why Winnicott says taht the potential space is the place in which we live. We are not alive in the realm of the reality or in the realm of fantasy. If we resiude only in one realm or the other, we are simply reflexively reactive to external or internal stimuli that do not represent anything, but simply are. In potential space, the area between fantasy and reality, we are alive in teh sense that we are the interpreters, and therefore creators , of our experience; we interpret reality in terms of fantasy, and fantasy in terms of reaity, using each to give meaning to the other, thus giving theother vitality. At the same time, reality and fantasy each negate the other, thus rendering the other safe by preventing it from becoming too powerful. Finally, potential space is an area of experiencing. It is only through the act of being in the world with another person that fantasy (the biologically determined psychological representation of instinct) and reality can come to be created by the individual. It is only in the course of the individual's living in the world and relating to objects that he creates personal meanings through which he can discover who he is. Both one''s symbolic creations and one's object relations serve as mirrors in which one can see one's reflection and thereby discover who one is. p 258<BR/>p 260-1 The dialectic of reality and fantasy in playing: experience in potential space is both real and imaginary. Play is not the summation of reality and fantasy: it is a state of mind in which reality and fantasy create one another dialecticce.meaning is not generated and so reality and fantasy do not create one another dialectically !!!" ( Thoas Ogden - Playing, Dreaming, and Interpreting Experience: Comments on Potential Space, pp. 255-78, in Gerard Fromm and Bruce Smith eds. - The Facilitating Environment: Clinical applications of Winnicott's Theory.)<BR/>Cum vi se pare teoria asta?
