European Museum of the Year Award 2007

Muzeul Ţăranului a primit premiul EMYA în 1996.
Ce nu mulţi ştiu e că acest premiu a fost acordat şi unui alt muzeu din România, Muzeul Cotroceni. Vă surprinde?

European Museum of the Year Award 2007 for the German Emigration CenterOn May 5th, the German Emigration Center was awarded in Alicante, Spain, themost renowned prize for European Museums, the European Museum of the YearAward 2007.Her Majesty, Queen Fabiola of Belguim presented the award to Dr. SimoneEick, Director of the German Emigration Center, which after 15 years onceagain goes to a German Museum. For one year the bronze sculpture by HenryMoore will hold its' place in the German Emigration Center.With winning the prize the German Emigration Center stands in line withillustrious museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and theGuggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The European Museum Forum operating under theauspices of the Council of Europe awards since its establishment in 1977outstanding projects and ideas in the field of European museums. Once a yearthe European Museum Forum under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Fabiolaof Belgium, holds the European Museum of the Year Award at a different placein Europe. Candidates for the Award are new museums, established within thepast two or three years and older museums which have been completelyreorganized during the same period. 50 Museums had applied for this year'saward.Decisive factors for the decision of the jury were the emotionalcommunication of history through theatrical techniques and effectivemultimedia installations and the substantial modern scientific productionand research possibilities.Architecture, concept and exhibition design are organized by Studio AndreasHeller, Hamburg.In Europe's largest theme museum visitors follow the steps of more than 7million Emigrants who emigrated between 1830 and 1974 from Bremerhaven intothe New World.
